Gas company employees from across the country have descended upon northeastern Japan to recover gas supplies in quake- and tsunami-ravaged areas. Some 3,700 workers from 27 gas companies spanning Hokkaido to Kyushu are now in the Tohoku region including the Miyagi Prefecture capital of Sendai, where a team of 4,200 had restored 78.6 percent of the gas supply in their jurisdiction as of April 12.
